The main objective of the project is to organize a workshop and a work and study session focusing on the use of the latest innovations, in-situ sensors, airships and satellites, measurement techniques and algorithms that could provide essential information both for hydrotechnical companies for energy management purposes as well as for trading operations in the context of important climate change induced by the variability of environmental and climate conditions affecting the accuracy of estimates of water resources.

A secondary objective is to discuss the opportunity of a project to demonstrate how new developments in Earth Observation, as regards aviation and in-situ sensors and methodologies, can make a significant contribution to more accurate rainfall, soil moisture and snow cover, which are needed to more accurately quantify water reserves useful for hydropower production.
